Louise Barker

Senior Serious Injury File Handler
Background

I am an experienced chartered legal executive lawyer with over 15 years’ experience in dealing with claimant and defendant personal injury claims. After completing a degree in journalism, I began working for Minster Law in 2008. I worked my way up from the customer contact centre where I would take the initial calls from clients reporting an accident and starting their claim; before progressing into a claims handler role within the MOJ and then Fast Track department. After leaving Minster Law, I worked at a claimant law firm dealing with a variety of employers’ liability and public liability cases before moving to a defendant law firm. This gave me the opportunity to see how insurers and defendants deal with claims. Whilst working, I studied part-time qualifying as a chartered legal executive lawyer through CILEX in early 2022 and I moved back to Minster Law in late 2022, joining the Serious Injury team.

What are you most passionate about in your job?

I am an Associate within the Serious Injury team, dealing with clients who have suffered serious and often life-changing injuries. I am passionate about ensuring my clients receive the rehabilitation they need to aid their recovery and pride myself on being approachable and easily contactable throughout the claims process. I endeavour to ensure that my clients have a thorough understanding of each stage of the claims process whilst providing technical guidance and reassurance. I enjoy building up a good relationship with each of my clients and ensuring that they receive the best possible settlement outcome.

What are your personal interests outside of work?

In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym and for long walks with my husband and our 7-year-old Shihtzu.
