Background
I joined Minster Law in November 2013, working initially in the firm’s London office, and was promoted to the role of Associate Solicitor in 2016. I qualified as a solicitor in Australia in 1995. Initially I engaged in a wide variety of commercial litigation and planning and environmental disputes, which included cases in the Queensland Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. At the same time I also had conduct of several high value personal injury cases conducted in the District and Supreme Courts. In 1998 I moved to the UK and became a partner at a leading regional personal injury firm, and since then have specialised in personal injury litigation including road traffic accidents, accidents at work, public liability claims, inquests and applications for criminal compensation.
What are you most passionate about in your job?
I am always conscious that a client who has sustained serious injuries in an accident is undergoing a life changing event. They are in a very vulnerable situation and are concerned not about their own health and wellbeing, but also about the effect on their family and future financial situation. I am passionate about helping an injured client to get the best possible rehabilitation, to ensure their financial situation is taken care of while they recover from their injuries, and in the longer term to ensure they achieve a just settlement. It is also the case that it can be daunting prospect for a client to have to take on a large insurance company. It is usually the first time they have been involved in any type of claim or litigation. My decades of experience in the field of serious and catastrophic injury claims can help clients to understand and navigate their way through this process.
What are your personal interests outside of work?
I previously enjoyed playing rugby in both Australia and England but have now had to hang up my boots due to injury and age. I now enjoy running having completed two marathons, and hill walking.
