Background
I am a senior solicitor in the serious injury department with over 12+ years of experience in representing seriously injured clients who have often suffered life changing injuries arising from either road traffic accidents, pedestrian accidents, accidents at work, occupiers’ liability or public liability accidents. Before joining Minster Law, I worked in the complex injury/serious injury department of a Union owned Law firm in Sheffield, for 7+ years representing clients (from across England & Wales) who suffered from serious injuries, often being serious orthopaedic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, chronic pain etc. My career highest settlement award for a client has been in the sum of £600,000. Given my depth of experience, I offer my clients a kind, empathetic and sympathetic hand. I believe in establishing a relationship of trust from the outset, with my clients so that they can turn to me, for advice & guidance, whilst navigating bringing a claim during often a very traumatic time of their & their family’s lives. A traumatic accident, resulting in serious injuries often affects clients in several ways, for example it impacts their employment, income, job prospects, domestic chores, care, relationships, other associated financial losses and/or psychological state etc. It is therefore important to take detailed instructions from my clients, to set up early rehabilitation, treatment, to finalise liability, request interim payments (if needed) & have my clients examined by appropriate experts.
What are you most passionate about in your job?
When I was at primary school (many moons ago), when asked by my teacher what I wanted to be when I grow up, I already had 3 jobs lined up & rolled them off (quickly) from the tip of my tongue. I wanted to be either an astronaut, an air hostess or a newscaster. Fast forward to the present day, and whilst I did not become any of these, I absolutely love my job of representing and helping clients with serious & life changing injuries. I find it deeply fulfilling in being the person that can facilitate bringing about a positive change in my clients' lives especially after they have gone through distressing accidents, which often have a concertina effect of negatively impacting, be it their employment and/or personal lives. I attempt to make the claim and litigation (court) process, as simple as possible for my clients to understand, by explaining it in plain terms, with the ultimate goal of achieving settlement. Judging from the jobs I aspired for as a kid, they reflect a lifelong inner passion that I have, to inform, provide service & bring about a difference in someone’s life and I have the opportunity to do this in my job as a serious injury solicitor, for which I am grateful.
What are your personal interests outside of work?
I am a practising Muslim and regularly enjoy listening to/watching lectures on a variety of Islamic topics. I enjoy travelling, particularly to Muslim majority countries or countries with an Islamic heritage. I enjoy reading, although I have a tendency to buy books (of all genres, whatever piques my interest) but then struggle to find the time to read them all cover to cover. Hopefully one day. I enjoy spending time with and/or hosting family and friends, as well as bringing up my beautiful daughter. I am fluent in the languages of Urdu & Punjabi and I also hold a British Sign Language Level 1 qualification.
