Background
I started work as a paralegal/legal assistant, in the Motorbike Team at Minster Law. In April 2008 I was promoted to the trainee fee earner position and was able to build upon the skills and knowledge gained through the assistant role. I had conduct of car and motorcycle cases of varying values from Small Claims to Fast Track. In October 2009 I was promoted again to a full fee earner position in the Motorcycle Team and worked on a caseload with my assistant. I left Minster Law in August 2011 and took a year out and spent time volunteering in Kenya teaching English as a foreign language. I then worked for Michael Lewin Solicitors from July 2012 to July 2016 when it re-branded as Oakwood Solicitors. I worked as a fee earner specialising in RTA claims. I had conduct of bicycle, motorbike, car and pedestrian claims from beginning to end. This meant negotiating and making decisions on liability, valuing claims, negotiating liability disputes, and issuing court proceedings. In addition, I had experience handling CICA claims from inception to settlement from assault cases to cases involving sexual abuse. I qualified as a solicitor on 15th July 2015 and, shortly after, became a Team Leader for a team of trainee fee earners which involved monitoring their progress, assessing training needs and mentoring. I left Oakwood Solicitors in January 2019 and returned to Minster Law in February 2019.
What are you most passionate about in your job?
As a file handler, I enjoy speaking to my clients and listening to the impact an accident had had on them and their family and then trying to find ways to minimise the impact and push their claims to a successful conclusion.
What are your personal interests outside of work?
In my spare time I like to bake, read, garden and walk my dog.
