Life at Minster Law

Get a glimpse into what makes us tick and what life is like working at Minster Law

Stand together

With a shared purpose, we can have a more positive impact on the people around us.

Be courageous

We fight for what’s right for our customers, even when the path is not easy.

Find a way

The difference between what is difficult and what is possible lies within our own resolve.

The Minster way

We’re on a mission to be the leading legal services provider for insurers in the market. We know we have to do things differently and have the best people on board to achieve this. This is why we’re committed to creating a working environment and culture that is open and empowers our colleagues, where everyone feels supported and can be their best selves. We want our colleagues to love where they work, take pride in what they do, and have fun along the way. Sounds like something you could contribute to? Read on to get a glimpse into life at Minster Law.

A flexible way of working

We offer agile working, and our judgement-free, trust environment provides colleagues with the opportunity to choose where they work – at home or in the office – allowing productivity, creativity, and engagement to flourish (with the added benefit of removing the stress of commuting!)

Your work space

Our modern and vibrant office offers a space to be your most productive, with hot desking and collaborative meeting spaces to get the most of your day with your colleagues. There are plenty of facilities on-site to support your professional and personal endeavours, whether it’s the latest tech for your remote meetings or a shower after your lunch time run!

We’re a modern law firm, so don’t expect stuffy suits and ties. We want our colleagues to be comfortable so we operate a flexible dress code policy so you can wear what works for you and the day you have planned.

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to lunch, with plenty of eateries nearby to venture to. This includes a local farm shop, garden centre, and grab and go options from Starbucks, Subway, Greggs, Burger King, and KFC. There’s also our local pub, The Red Kite, which is great for a business lunch or post-work drinks.

If you’re after a scenic lunchtime stroll, or perhaps a more energetic run, there’s Pugney’s country park just over the road, or routes along the River Calder, which you can get to from Peel Avenue.

Commute and travel

Whether you’re travelling by public transport, car, or bike, we’re connected to excellent transport routes to get you into the office.

Minster Law’s headquarters are conveniently located just off junction 39 of the M1, making it easily commutable by car from around the country. What’s more, there’s free parking – so you don’t need to worry about an additional commuting cost. There’s also 12 electric vehicle charging points so you can opt for a greener commute.

Discounted season tickets are available as part of our benefits package.

Several bus services run to Calder Park and also nearby on Denby Dale Road. Service 107 runs through Calder Park in the morning and evening peak periods.

Travelling from Wakefield by bike is easy – a near continuous cycle route links Calder Park with the city centre and both Westgate and Kirkgate stations. It takes less than 20 minutes to get into the city by bike. We offer a cycle to work scheme as part of our benefits package, which allows colleagues to save up to 42% on the cost of a bike and safety accessories for the purpose of cycling to work.

Social

Minster Law boasts an active social scene and our colleague-driven Minster Moments committee organise events throughout the year to keep you entertained and give you the opportunity to meet other people across the business. Whether it’s a cheese and wine night, quizzes, dance classes, or something seasonal, there’s something for everyone.

Each team also has an incentive budget which allows colleagues to get out together and unwind.

Wellbeing

Our colleagues’ health and wellbeing are incredibly important to us, which is why we’ve prioritised this through initiatives supported by our health and wellbeing committee and our benefits package. We’ve created spaces and networks where colleagues can speak out and share stories, workshops to manage health and wellbeing, and a work environment where people can work comfortably and at their happiest.

Equality, diversity, and inclusion

Everyone is welcome at Minster Law, regardless of their background and differences, and we believe our diversity is what makes Minster such a great place to work. Our dedicated ED&I committee exists to ensure we have a workplace that creates a sense of belonging for everyone and is driven by a commitment to creating a culture where people feel involved, respected, valued and can be their authentic selves. We have accessible facilities and are proud to be an equal opportunities employer.

Social responsibility

It’s important to us that we support the most vulnerable in our communities, which is why we empower colleagues through our “giving back” days and match funding policies to support causes they care about.

Career and development opportunities

Whether you want to climb the career ladder, explore something new, or flourish in your new role, we have a host of career and development opportunities to support you with your goals.

Investors in People

We’re proud to be ranked platinum for our investment in people. The Investors in People platinum accreditation has only been awarded to 0.8% of UK companies who have taken the assessment.

Benefits

Our colleagues who continue to do great work for our customers, our business partners and each other – deserve great support.
