Volunteering day at FareShare Yorkshire

Dana Moliene, paralegal at Minster Law, shares her recent volunteering day at FareShare Yorkshire.
This March, I swapped my typical working day at the desk for a volunteering day at FareShare in Leeds. This was my second time volunteering here, as my values align closely with those of FareShare. I always seize the amazing opportunity provided by Minster Law to do a good deed and contribute to society through meaningful work.
Having volunteered here before, I found it easier this time as I remembered how everything works. Our tasks included picking and packing produce, groceries, and perishable goods into food crates, which were stored in a walk-in fridge until they were ready to leave the warehouse. Volunteering at FareShare can easily replace a gym day, as it provides the same endorphins from physical activity and mental satisfaction, knowing that your efforts will serve others well. FareShare is run by dedicated volunteers, and currently supports 400 charities. The food is distributed across West Yorkshire to food banks, schools, and churches.
My values align with FareShare’s because I believe in recycling, not wasting any food, and taking only as much as you need. Volunteering here allows me to contribute to these principles and make a positive impact on the community.
At Minster Law, we are proud to support our colleagues in giving back to the community. Every colleague has the opportunity to take a paid “Giving Back” day each year, where they can volunteer and make a positive impact.
