Minster Law secures six figure settlement for amputee client
The accident circumstances and injuries
Our client was a motorcyclist that was overtaking at a junction, when the Defendant pulled out to his right hand side. He subsequently left the carriageway and collided with a tree which then knocked him unconscious and had life-changing consequences.
The accident left our client with multiple injuries, the most significant being an injury to his left leg. This involved seven fractures to his left leg and unfortunately this required him to have a through the knee amputation on the day of the accident.

Fault for the accident was disputed heavily throughout our client’s claim. A compromise was reached on a without prejudice basis.
The accident has left our client disabled, as defined by the Equality Act 2010 and he is likely to need future care and prosthetic rehabilitation. We were therefore able to claim for aids and equipment to help him live comfortably, such as a wheelchair and prosthetics.
We were also able to secure interim payments throughout the duration of the claim to assist him with living costs and treatment.
Ultimately, Sarah Patten, an Associate Solicitor in our serious injury team was able to ensure a six-figure sum in full and final settlement of his claim. This will allow our client to purchase a custom made prosthetic and pay for care and assistance as he requires.
Despite the issues with liability that we faced, this did not deter us from reaching a fair settlement for our client.
