A team of 12 from Minster Law took to the water last weekend to support our charity partner, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. Forget Me Not is there for any family who is confronted with the news that their child has a life-shortening condition – from as early as pregnancy onwards. The charity has running costs of £4 million to achieve the amazing work they do, which is why Minster Law is dedicated to fundraising on their behalf.
Minster Law took part in the hospice’s first ever Dragon Boat race on 14 September 2019 at Pugney’s Country Park in Wakefield. The team, “Minster Marvel” superheroes, took part in a total of four races and secured 9th place, just missing the mark for the semi-finals.
To support the event, we pledged £2,000 in sponsorship, plus £405 in fundraising.
Charlotte Dack, Minster Law’s crew manager for the day, said: “It was a brilliant day in the sunshine raising money for an important cause. Our team worked so hard and we’re determined to come back next year, raise more money, and do even better in the races!”
Vicky Stackhouse, Events Fundraiser at Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, said: “It was great to see everyone on Saturday having fun with a little healthy competition! The sun was shining down on us, which made for a great atmosphere…so from all of the families and the team here at Forget Me Not, thank you so much for your support and sponsoring our first ever Dragon Boat Race!”
