An important part of who we are at Minster is our charity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity. We have successfully raised and donated funds for many good causes in recent years and now, as part of the BGL Group, we’re pleased that this is set to continue.
BGL has set a strategic objective to donate a total of £3m to good causes by 2017, with activity focusing on Poverty Reduction. Now entering its second year, the Group’s CSR strategy was designed in response to feedback from BGL senior managers, and works on four levels:
- International – exclusively funding new schools and clinics in countries around the world where poverty is an issue. Last year the Group built four pre-schools and 18 play centres in Guatemala, which were visited by 10 employees in April 2013. A brand new and very exciting project is about to launch for 2014, with the opportunity for employees to visit Zambia.
- National – volunteering opportunities for all UK employees via the Prince’s Trust. By delivering workshops and mentoring programmes, employees can personally help disadvantaged young people reach their work potential.
- City – donations and volunteering in each of the BGL Group’s locations to support important community causes.
- Individual – BGL matches employees’ own fundraising for any charity up to £500, and offers every employee a paid day off for volunteering.
Everyone at Minster Law is looking forward to getting involved in such a unique CSR programme.
