Our CEO, Shirley Woolham, joined top local businesses for the launch of Wakefield Business Week 2019. Wakefield Business Week hosts a variety of events and workshops for local businesses, giving them the opportunity to share information, ideas, and network.
This year’s launch focused on progress made towards delivering Wakefield’s economic strategy and setting out the key priorities for the year ahead. Shirley joined Coca Cola, Torque, and Penny Appeal in a panel discussion which touched on the local economy, education and business growth in the community.
Shirley said: “Wakefield Business Week is a brilliant initiative which supports and celebrates local businesses. The panel discussion was really insightful and asked some important questions about what businesses could do more of to support Wakefield, including how we can offer more clear routes into employment.”
“As part of our investment into Wakefield, Minster’s CSR programme is focused on building skills in the local community and we’re organising a variety of initiatives to support education and employability. We recently hosted a successful work experience day for Wakefield College students to see the inner workings of a business and inspire the next generation of lawyers. All businesses, no matter how big or small, play an important part in making a difference to the communities they operate in. Wakefield Business Week is a fantastic opportunity to come together to drive the region forward as a strong economic force.”
