Minster Law tees off to support Pinderfields Spinal Unit Recreational Fund
We teamed up with S.U.R.F (Spinal Unit Recreational Fund), a charity which operates at Pinderfields Spinal Injury Unit to host a golf day on 19 September at Normanton Golf Club.
The golf day, initiated by Joanne Poynton, a Solicitor in our Serious Injury department is part of the partnership with the charity which aims to raise thousands. Our suppliers, who are also part of the wider care giving team for those who have suffered serious injuries were joined on the course by 16 ex spinal injury patients, alongside Craig Thomas, national coach for England’s disabled golf team, who gave one to one coaching to each of the ex patients.
Rachel Di Clemente, our Legal Services Director, said: “S.U.R.F is one of our charity partners, and we are thrilled to be raising money for the charity. It was great to see some of the ex patients out on the golf course, underlining the charity’s work to show that patients can adapt after such a serious injury to lead fulfilling lives.”
“To see so many businesses who work with us, including Forth Associates and Old Square Chambers join us to support this very good cause, and raising £1,200 for the charity is fantastic.”
Rachel explained that Minster Law is strongly committed to the local community, and is investing £100,000 in good causes across Wakefield via a raft of activities, including partnerships where employees will volunteer their knowledge and skills to benefit the local community and economy.
Wayne Cunningham of SURF, said: “This has been an incredible day for the charity and our members, and we are absolutely delighted with the first event in what promises to be a highly successful partnership with Minster Law. We have plenty more activities planned for the rest of the year.”
“We share the same aims of looking after sometimes badly-injured people and helping them back into good health to become active members of the community.”
